unto is an archaic way of saying a few propositions like: to, until and by.

to: i say unto (to) you, be gone.

until: we are to be faithful unto (ultil) death

by: a place unto (by) itself.

in this context it indicates motion towards Adam.
so there's no difference. both mean the same thing but unto sounds very formal and old.
