Yup! I think the second one emphasizes the question a little bit more but I had to overthink it a bit to even come up with that difference, so they're basically the same.

Q:
In Colombia, we have a system called “estratos” that classifies people by their socioeconomic status, generally assigned according to the place or property where someone lives and not by their income. This system classifies people from 1 to 6:
•1 to 3: low-income people
•4: middle-class people
•5 and 6: upper-class people
Is there such a system in the United States? Does it classifies people by annual income, the place where they live or something else?

I have never heard of such a thing. Maybe the government has something like that but it’s not commonly known in the public.
We often talk about “tax brackets” which groups people by how much taxes they pay based on their income. If you make less than 12,000 a year you are in the first bracket and pay no taxes. If you makes between 12,000 and 30,000 you are in the second bracket and pay 20% taxes. If you make between 30,000 and 60,000 you are in the third bracket and pay 25% taxes, etc.
I just made those numbers up but that’s generally how the system works.
