Questions about example sentences with, and the definition and usage of "Father"

The meaning of "Father" in various phrases and sentences

Q: What does He offended her in her father's wake mean?
A: Wake in this sentence is a term used for the morning ceremony Americans have before the funeral
Q: What does I'm not looking for a father figure. mean?
A: A father figure is someone (a man) who acts like a father to a person. It's typically used when a person doesn't have a father, or has a bad father.

In this case, since the lady is divorced, this man would be acting like a father figure to the children. I don't really understand why the ex-husband would say "I'm not looking for a father figure". That would suggest that the ex-husband wants a father figure for himself.

Edit: I think I misread the context. Is the man (not the ex-husband) saying "I'm not looking for a father figure"? If so, it should probably say "I'm not looking to be a father figure". That would mean that he doesn't want to be a father figure for the lady's children.
Q: What does one in their father's eye mean?
A: Another saying we have is "you're the apple of my eye."
It basically means that you're my favorite and the center of my attention.
I'm not really sure of your question, but hopes this helps :-)
Q: What does You don't deserve the father you've got. mean?
A: Based on that context I would say yes, but I think the father in the story believes he is the good father (second example).

By that I mean, if a man has to tell his family he's a good father, he might not actually be as good as he believes.

But yes, I would say the first example applies here, even though the father actually means the second.

I hope that isn't confusing. ^^;
Q: What does Their new father and new mother is married so the children become sibling. mean?
A: Stepchild, stepbrother and stepsister. Would be unblood related, but related through marrage.

Other questions about "Father"

Q: How do you say "my father passed away" without sad feelings?
A: "Passed away" is pretty formal and sensitive so I feel that's a pretty good way to express it.

Death is a very sensitive subject to some, and many will automatically feel sad feelings however you may articulate the subject. More context and/or something like "I'm not that sad" or "he was a great father and now he can rest in peace" can maybe make it feel less sad. Tone of voice also helps.
Q: "Your father would have wanted to let you go to university."
"But I was so lazy" does this sound natural?
A: This doesn't really make sense. Is the father dead? If so, "Your father would have wanted you to go to university." is better.
If the father is alive, but the time for the person to go to university has passed, you can say "Your father wanted you to go to university."
Either way, "let you go" is a little strange in the past tense.
Q: I didn't have a father when I was born. does this sound natural?
