Questions about example sentences with, and the definition and usage of "Grouse"

Synonyms of "Grouse" and their differences

Q: What is the difference between to grouse / a grouse and to complain/ complaint ?
A: I think with many words we don't hear a lot of, it is always confusing to hear said out loud or written the way it is. If stated enough I'm sure you will get used to it. That being said, it isn't really a word that is used much as words like 'complain', 'moan' and 'grumble' are much more common than 'grouse' In essence it is the same word as complain so can be used in the same way, "He likes to complain a lot." "He likes to grouse a lot." "If he would stop his complaining, we could sort this out." "If he would stop his grousing, we could sort this out." I think it's more because of how uncommon it is that it sounds quite weird. It also doesn't help that the word 'grouse' is the name of a small fat bird that can be eaten. I hope this isn't too confusing and that it helps you! 👍🏼
