Question about English (US)

Having served as the ambassodor to England for several years, Yoshida just loved roses. Once the entire area near the entrance gate, over there, had been a rose garden. But it had been moved to this relatively small space to make room for a parking area to accommodate the motorcade when then US president Jimmy Carter visited this place for a summit meeting. does this sound natural?
