You can make variant using あります as below.
郵便局はあそこにあります。
Likewise,
あそこにマクドナルドがあります。
can be changed using です as below.
あそこにあるのがマクドナルドです。
Word in front of です indicates the theme/focus of speech.
あそこが【マクドナルド】です。
あそこにあるのが【マクドナルド】です。
私の家は【ここ】です。
ここが【私の家】です。
While in the sentence using にあります, the theme/focus of speech is placed in front of は／が.
あそこに【マクドナルドが】あります。
【郵便局は】あそこにあります。
【私の家は】ここにあります。
