"The Shot Heard 'Round the World" is a reference to the American Revolutionary War, describing the gunfire that killed the first British soldiers and thus began the war. Serena's altercation (= fight, aggressive argument) with the umpire caused a massive reaction among everyone in the "ecosystem" (= all the various related communities, like tennis fans or feminists) in a similar way.

This seems like a bit of a translation mistake. I think they meant to say, "Woman of the year" and "Heard around the world".
