Question about Korean

Does "우리 헤어졌어요" strictly mean "We broke up"?

A Korean friend of mine told me that we can use the verb 헤어지다 to say that we broke up with someone.

However, I have googled the possible meanings for 헤어지다 and it says that it can also mean: "to miss one another".

Could this sentence be interpreted as "We miss each other" too? 🤔
