Question about English (UK)

Hearing the word ‘history’, we all feel somehow make sense. We usually think history is the fact about what happened in the past. However, without stopping thinking, if you take one more step to try to answer to what the truth of ‘the fact about what happened in the past’, then you will realize you hardly define it. It tend to be controversy whether the fact of past was so or not because the opinions and situations are depending on one to another. does this sound natural?
