昔、医者たちはものすごく父親的な態度をとり、まるで両親が子供に「大人しくブロッコリーを食べてくれ」のように、患者さんにどんな治療が最適なのか、患者さんに相談さえせず自分で決めた者でした。しかしその時代は遠く過ぎ去りました。
In earlier days, doctors were paternalistic: they decided what was best for the patient and ordered whatever treatment they choose. They were like parents saying: “you will eat your broccoli because I say so. Mommy knows best”. Those days are long gone.
「paternalistic」って「父親的な態度をとる」と訳しますか?
