@EnegonEgos If the present (in the example above) is placed in a high location and Person B is looking in a low location, they might be somewhat warm, but not very warm. This is the only way that you can use warm/cold to reference high/low.
The expression is used often, usually in a playful manner. You probably don't want to use it with your boss, teacher, etc.

So...what does 'warm' mean this situation.
Sorry on YouTube : https://youtu.be/zxI2pvSZCno?t=727
Beaver said ' I must be getting warmer now'
And Fox replied 'Not even close'.
Or

Beaver said ' You(Fox) said I wasn't warm when I was.'

When Person A knows the location of a thing, but Person B is looking for it, Person A can give Person B hints about whether or not they are getting closer of farther from the thing. They indicate this by saying 'warm, warmer, hot, on fire' as they get closer or 'cool, cold, freezing' as they get farther away.
Instead of warm and cold, think of it as near and far.

@BJCUAI So...like a figurative expression? Something has level or grade or assessable (just like near and far in this case), is it used that? like this case.
- English (US)
@EnegonEgos Not used for level, grade, or accessibility. Just for near/close and far (both figuratively and literally).
例えば、太郎が彼女のクリスマスプレゼントを隠した。彼女が探しに行く。彼が声でヒントをする:近いよ~(You're getting warm)、遠いよ~ (You're getting cold).
In a figurative sense, you can say 'You're getting warm' if the listener is getting closer to being correct (or doing something correctly) and 'You're getting cold' if the listener is getting farther away from being correct.

@BJCUAI Is warm/cold only used near/far in a figurative expression?
- English (US)
@EnegonEgos No, for both literal and figurative expressions (see answer above).

@BJCUAI Oh, I'm sorry I didn't mean to. My English is wrong.
Literally I know.
Is warm/cold not used high/low or something else like these except near/close? you said 'Just for near/close'.
By the way, a situation of what you can't see is they're playing that someone hides thing and others seek it. Just like your example.
Is it used in playing, we don't generally use it?
