もともと「ゆく」と発音していたものが、“u”が脱落して「いく」になりました。
従って2つは同じものです。
話し言葉では「いく」のほうが多く使われています。
また、この「いく」と「ゆく」の関係に似ているものに「いう」と「ゆう」があります。これも同じことです。
