"apparire" and "comparire" are basically the same.

example:
"Ieri (lui) è apparso dopo tanto tempo"

and

"ieri (lui) è comparso dopo tanto tempo"

these two sentences both mean:
"yesterday he appeared after a long time"

in italian we mostly use "apparire" though.

also "sembrare" and "figurare" are the same, but we never use "figurare" as a verb.

expamle:
you can say:
"lui sembra stanco" ("he seems tired")
but you can't say "lui figura stanco" because it's unnatural.

"parere" is not also used as a verb but as a noun

"secondo il mio >parere< (noi) dovremmo andare al cinema"

it's:

">in my opinion< we should go at the cinema".
