Question about English (US)

There are many superstitions in Japan. For example, number 4 and 9 are unlucky. The reason is because 4 is pronounced “shi” in Japanese and its pronunciation is just like that of death. In the same way, 9 is pronounced “ku” and it is alike pronunciation of pain and suffering. That’ why they tend to avoid those numbers in their daily life. Besides, they believe their blood type decides their characteristic and future. This superstition is still trend in Japan, girls usually tell their fortune with their blood type. I think those of superstitions is just like religions for getting relief.

does this sound natural?
