その俵に米を入れたものが「米俵(こめだわら)」です(添付画像参照)。(昔使っていたものであり、現代では紙袋やビニールが一般的ですが、神社などに奉納されているものは時々見ます)
その文の「米俵」が何のことを言っているのかよくわかりませんが、「完成品の形状」を「米俵(太い円柱状のもの)」と表現した可能性もあると思います。
