@catsland: yes you're right maybe I am asking a wrong question. because some fds of mine told me that idols are not so respected as singers and actors so I was wondering was it because they are not popular enough ^_^ is it true?
@erinax There used to be some charismatic idols 20-30 years ago. They were all solo or in small groups of 2-7 members. Now idol industry has been swept by huge groups that have tens/hundreds of members like AKB. Idols in those groups are basically girl-next-door typed ones and they sell their products in extremely commercial ways. (I don't blame them for being commercial. Every industry can be.)
@catsland: yeah I have heard of the 48 groups... actually I believe their country created a Chinese version^_^. I'm quite interested in idols because it seems to be a unique culture of Japan! in my country there are young people being called as idols but they will also introduce themselves as singers or actors but in Japan it seems to me that the line between idols, singers and actors is very clear. soアイドル won't introduce himself as俳優?
