Kidnapped usually is used for children. Abducted is for anyone.

'Kidnapped' also gives a clue about the motive being purely monetary, i.e., for ransom.
'Abducted' could be for any other motive as well.
Example sentences:
"The wealthy businessman's 6-year old son was kidnapped."
"Two foreign women were abducted in the middle of the night."
