The second one is correct.
The first one is a bit confusing because "part" and "party" are different words. "Holding" and "whole thing"are also different words.

Random means unplanned or undecided.
Examples:
A " random cat" is a cat that the person does not previously know about.
" random number " is a number that wasn't decided/picked based on any pattern or method. It was just randomly chosen.
Does that make sense? It is kinda hard to explain.
