All modal verbs like "konnte", "musste", "durfte" etc. "Dachte" & "meinte" is also fine to use in Präteritum while "machte" & "sagte" are unnatural in spoken German. There are probably more, but I can't think of any right now :))
@ddnnzz I think officially in Hochdeutsch you can only use model verbs and "to be" and "to have" in spoken language. Though, my teacher said that in the north of Germany they use some other words in preterite when they speak. I haven't heard "meinte" before, but I have heard "dachte."
