"Alex's advice on study and exams."
You need a bit more context. Was Alex's advice on studying and exams helpful? You would then say, "Alex's advice on study and exams helped me achieve higher grades."
Referring to study and exams separately is correct, because learning how to study to retain knowledge is different from learning how to approach an exam.
Saying "studying 'for' exams" would be correct in this sentence: "Alex gave me helpful advice on how to study for exams."
Alex might have taught you how to study based on what an exam will cover.
How you construct the sentence will give you slightly different meanings.
