Obsequious describes an exaggerated, subservient, and sometimes sleazy behaviour towards another person, possibly 'the employee paid his boss unnecessary compliments in an obsequious manner'.
Credulous describes a willingness to believe something too willingly, to be fooled, a certain naivety. For example 'the children were credulous when the magician pulled the rabbit out of the hat'
