An "Office Christmas Party" is somewhat similar, but most American companies are too uptight to let co-workers get a little bit drunk. 😵 Normally you are expected to stay fairly sober throughout the party.
Nope, no Santa's at any of the parties I've gone to. I haven't been to a work related party that had children involved (other than a company picnic). Most coworkers will bring their spouses or a date, but not kids. The party's that I've been involved with usually start rather late and end around midnight or later. Normally alcohol is served but you can't get crazy. 😜 You still have to worry about boss/employee formal relationships and rank. I personally don't like attending them. I do go out with my coworkers, including my supervisors and personnel I supervise, and have fun as friends without regard to who outranks whom. That is more in the spirit and tradition of Bounenkai but the American way conducting business wouldn't allow that to be conducted on a large scale.
@Capt-Harris Thank you. I knew Bounenkai is strange😅 Japanese people mixed private and business too much. Recently, more companies don't hold bounenkai. In the future, We will not mix private and business.
