Someone corrected my exercise on Busuu, but is their correction correct? I wrote 'it's' and he corrected it by changing it to full form (it is).

"It's" is more informal, when introducing where you live it is more proper to say "it is". But it's is perfectly fine to say to some one so don't worry :-)

When you write don't use contractions. When you speak use contractions.

Grammar is like your mother, do what she tells you! There are rules of grammar that don't make sense. Sorry, if it isn't sensical. It is what it is.

@Ebubekir26: Contractions are when you shorten a word:
It is --> It's
They are --> They're
Have not --> Haven't
Could not --> Couldn't
Etc...
It's more formal to use the full form rather than the shortened form.
