I wrote a text visualization program that shows where word linking/liaison occurs in English.
To those who don't understand, word linking/liaison is when certain sounds from a preceding word spillover/connect to the subsequent word. E.g. 'Thank you' is spelled that way, but is generally pronounced "than kyou". An exception would be when emphasis is placed on the 'you', as in "Thank YOU".

But, thank is pronounced "th - aink" no matter what follows it. Are there other examples of linking? So far I am not convinced it is real

You may wanna use the pronoun I before the verb wrote in your first sentence, just so people will be sure that you wrote the program

Read the words:
"A lot"
Now read:
"A lot of"
Chances are "a lot" sounded different in each case, right? In the first case, the 't' is pronounced with a glottal stop. But in the second case, it's pronounced more like "A lodduv"

Aside from what @kev_ provided, here a few more common examples:
what's up > wa-zup (wazzup)
got to > go-to/a (gotta)
is a > i-za
Unlike French, where liaisons are an explicit part of the language (because of all the silent letters at the end), in English, liaisons aren't really something you learn. It's more of a thing where it's just how everyone says it. Of course, this is also dependent on your accent/where you come from.
