Question about English (US)

When you ask someone from a diffrent country about what number 1 in ttheir country is,How would you ask them this question and the sentences below are correct? This time, I used a certain country,China in the sentences.

1What is the number one thing in your country/China?

2What is the world's number one thing in your country/China?

I gues if I ask Chinese people this question, they would answer it by saying "We have the largest population in the !”

If the three sentences are unnutural,I'd appreciate it if you could correct them and teach me another expressins.

I'm looking forward to your helpful answer and thank you in advance!
does this sound natural?
