but I heard adjectives ending in ing are used for describing characteristics, while the ones end in ed are for expressing emotions or feelings. Is it an exception?

@IsaacSQ Complicated is an adjective. Just like difficult, you wouldn't say difficulting. ^^

@IsaacSQ It does, but it's rarely used. A sentence example: "John is not helping! He's only complicating our situation."
But you'd rather just use "John is not helping! He's just making our situation more complicated!"
