You can use either. "The e fuar" is common and the "it" is non-specific. In "tha i fuar" the feminine 'it' ("i") represents "aimsir", the weather, which is a feminine noun. But again this use of feminine "it" isn't really a rule anymore and nobody thinks about it much

Tha i fuar - "She is cold" or "it is cold " if the thing you are talking about is feminine
Tha e fuar - "He is cold" or "It is cold" if the thing you are talking about is masculine.
However nowadays younger people aren't really making a masc/fem distinction for "it" and just say "e" for everything

@liammichaelpj Just talking about the weather, could you use either? I have seen both used but i was just wondering if there was a difference whatsoever in connotation besides gender.
