I usually use "put off" when procrastinating/when something is postponed on purpose knowing something bad will happen. "Put off" is a more common phrase in daily life.
Ex: "I put off doing my homework to play games"
Postpone is more formal than "put off"
Ex: "The test was postponed until next week because of the storm"

Usually I would say "postpone" but "put off" is also correct, it also depends on the situation!

Maybe if someone asked if you did something like homework and you didn't (hehe) then you can say "I often put off doing my homework"
