Surpass is to go beyond something or someone
Transcend is to go beyond the limits of something. Like to break the limits of what was seen as possible

Transcend and Surpass mean the same thing.
“I transcended the barrier.”
and
“I surpassed the barrier.”
mean the same thing, transcend just sounds more natural in those sentences.
