Question about English (US)

Could you tell me which is the correct pronoun for "firewood", it or they?
I got some firewood. I picked it / them up inside the castle ruins.

some milk → it ( I'll drink it.)
some fish → they (I'll cook them.)

some firewood →? it or they(them)
I think "some firewood" is clearly plural just like "some fish".
