그 is preposition of something or someone which is nearby someone you're talking to.
It literally means as "there".
And 저 is also preposition of something or someone which is far from yourself and someone you're talking to.
It literally means "over there".
Ex:
그 거 뭐에요?

저 거 뭐에요?

"그것 or 그"can be used when a listener is far away and close to listener.
"저것 or 저"can be used to speaker and listener are both far
