I don't know if I would use "exceptional" to characterize "passion." A lot of passion, a huge passion.

Not really, it's correct, but maybe I'd rephrase it:
He has a lot of passion for innovation, which helps to increase the productivity significantly.
But that's just my style, no need to change.
