Santa has a beard. (Grows around the mouth/chin area).
Mustache is hair only below the nose/upper lip).
Whiskers are on animals (likes cats).

A beard is hair under the mouth around the chin. A mustache is hair around the upper lip. "Whisker" sounds like an individual hair, but "whiskers" could be any kind of facial hair.
