No, yours sentence makes no sense. You can say:
Ich habe keinen Sitzplatz im Bus bekommen.
Or
Es war kein Sitzplatz mehr im Bus frei.
Both, if you want primary say, that there was no seat for you available.
If you want to tell about a generally crowded bus, you can say:
Der Bus war zu voll.

No, the English expression "to take place" ("stattfinden" in German) does not mean literally "to take a seat / find a place or seat". It means that something, e.g. an event, is "happening":
The concert will take place in the stadium next week.
= Das Konzert wird nächste Woche im Stadion stattfinden.
What you wanted to say would be, e.g.:
Ich finde im Bus keinen Sitzplatz. – I don't find a seat in the bus.
Ich finde im Bus keinen Platz. – I don't find any free spot in the bus.
Ich passe nicht mehr in den Zug. / Ich komme nicht in den Zug. – I can't fit/get into the train.
