Question about Irish

Does "babhla puins" mean a "bowl of punch" only or can it mean a "punch bowl" (that is, a bowl designed to hold punch) as well?

For instance...

1. "He saw a bowl of punch on the table and decided to help himself to a glass of it "

versus

2. "You'll find a punch bowl in the cabinet above the stove."
