"Кончать" (делать что-то). Полный вариант "заканчивать". Пример: "Ты сделал уроки? -Уже заканчиваю". Значит что скоро он закончит делать уроки.
А "кончиться" могут какие-то расходные вещи.Полный вариант "заканчиваются". Например: "У нас кончаются огурцы" или "У меня кончилось мороженное, все съел". Но варианты "Кончать" и "кончаются" больше разговорные нежели письменные. Я не рекомендую в письме использовать эти короткие версии. Лучше писать(и даже говорить) полные: "заканчиваю" и "заканчиваются"

"ся" alla fine del verbo equivale a "si" in italiano.
