'These' and 'those' are used for plurals of objects.
'These' is something that you use to refer to a collection of objects that you have. 'Those' is how you refer to a collection of objects that is a distance away from you. For example..
'Look at these apples that I have in my bag.'
'Look at those apples over there one the table.'
'That' and 'this' are used in the same way, but for only one object.
'This' refers to an object you have and 'that' refers to an object a distance from you. For example...
'Look at this apple in my bag.'
'Look at that apple on the table.'
Hope this helps!

These/those are the plural forms of this/that, and behave in the same way. As a determiner this is used to identify a specific person or thing close at hand or being experienced. As a determiner that refers to the more distant of two things near to the speaker, or to a specific thing previously mentioned.
This/that followed by "Is"
These/those followed by "are"
