Question about Korean

What is the difference between ~같다 and ~생각하다?
Feel free to just provide example sentences.

What is the difference between ~같다 (~은/는 것 같다, ~을 것 같다) and ~생각하다 (~다고 생각하다, 는다고 생각하다, ~을 것이라고 생각하다)?

They are both often translated as "I think ..." but in what situations is one used instead of the other? Is 생각하다 mainly used to show your personal opinion or what you strongly think?
