Question about Japanese

Personally, I feel that even if I can speak well, I don't really know Japanese if I can't read Kanji.

正しいですか:

Casual: 個人的に、上手に話しても漢字が読めないとあまり日本語を知ってない気がするよ

1. Is 気がする correct here?
2.Instead of 上手に話しても can I say よくしゃべっても?Or does that mean something like "talk a lot"?
