Question about Simplified Chinese (China)

When I walk into Chinese restaurants, the waitresses usually welcome me with a "欢迎,几位?", followed by "请随便坐". I've also learned the differences between 一个人 and 一位, the latter being more polite.

Now, if I came into the restaurant by myself, should I tell the waitress 一个人 or 一位?
