Question about English (US)

How do you say this in English (US)? When we started to use e-mail, people called it "e-mail". "Mail" meant what we send from post office. But nowadays when I hear someone says "I'll send you a mail," I think it would be an e-mail.

Do you too? If so, what do you call what we used to call just mail?
