Hi! In the sentence “Al principio de los tiempos, los dioses se reunieron para crear al hombre y a la mujer.”
Why do you say “crear a (...)” and not “crear el hombre y la mujer”?

pero hay contracciones:
a + el = al
de + el = del
para no decir "a el hombre" lo reduce a: "al hombre".
