Beam and smile are very close in this context. Beam sort of implies you are smiling with all your body, You can see the smile in the person's eyes, face and body language. Think of the smile shooting out of the entire body versus just out of the mouth!

Grin and smirk are very similar. Smirk however sounds more darker, evil or mischievous.
