yeah, you are right at a basic level. However, there are differences between Russian and Slovak perfective-imperfective verbs
Russian has pairs, Slovak has trinities
Slovak can even create passive past participles from imperfective verbs
Slovak has repeated action aspect that can be created from every imperfective verb
Slovak has all kinds of perfect tenses
Slovak has pre-past tense (pre-past simple, pre-past continuous. pre-past perfect, pre-past perfect continuous)
Slovak has 1x-aspect, combined aspect...
trinity perfective - imperfective - perfective : nájsť - nachádzať - ponachádzať (find)
trinity imperfective - perfective - imperfective hľadať - dohľadať - dohľadávať (search)
behávam = I run repeatedly (behával som, budem behávať = "used to" in the past - "used to" in the future)
bežím = I am running now and it is my accidental activity
behám = I am running now and I am telling you it is my regular activity
včera som čítal knihu = I read a book yesterday (past simple imperfective)
včera som prečítal knihu = I read a whole book yesterday (past simple perfective)
Tú knihu mám už prečítanú. I have read the book (present perfect perfective)
Tie šaty už mám nosené. = I have worn the clothes. (present perfect imperfective)
Tie šaty už mám obnosené. = I have worn the clothes out. (present perfect perfective)
Ten šek som mal zaplatený keď sa stale tá nehoda. = I had paid the check before the traffic accident happened. (past perfect)
Pre-past perfect: I wished I had studied harder = Želal som si aby som bol študoval tvrdšie.
Pre-past tense can do many things, for example, it can remove consequence until now.
Idem spadnúť = I am going to fall ("going to" future = Slovak limiting auxiliary)
keď uź mám spadnúť = limiting immediate future
som pri tom poslať ti to - "to" future
zajtra pracujem = present continuous with a future time marker
Auto mám opravované už týždeň. = present perfect continuous passive voice = (They have been repairing my cars for a week). Passive past participle from a secondary imperfective verb.
Autá budú odťahované - odťahovávané - repeated action in the future perfective-imperfective - The cars will be being pulled away (completely or not completely)
