Why is it „längeren“ used here instead of just „langen“. ( I know it makes sense to native speakers but it doesn’t make sense to me) can anyone explain?

,,lang" means long, ,,länger" means more longer and it also the form of comparative from long. in the sentence you can see ,,länger" become länger+en because of the ,,Deutsch Deklination".... it is accusative
