Question about English (US)

‎I was introduced to this poet and told him that I write poetry myself, and he asked me if I could email him a couple of them. I'm so nervous. What do you all think of this?

"Is there a shoulder where even the dark comes to cry?

The silent shatters of despair have failed to set the sentenced free.

I'd then run to what was generously called his presence,

With the wind sending shivers up my spine.

With nothing else in mind and no one in sight.

I did not have it in me to say that I was the enemy.

I knew myself too well.

I could only lock myself in and plan.

Never once did my hands play along.

At what point will this coat of sorrow and defeat become warm and comforting?"
