Son el mismo tipo de zapato.
The both are trainers. There aren't any difference.

They are the same, I think that saying zapatos deportivos is not correct, cause zapatos means shoes, like the kind of shoes you wear to a wedding or a formal meeting and zapatillas means trainers, so saying zapatos deportivos makes no sense, but if you say it in spain, anyone would understand.that you are refering to trainers y both cases. hope it was helpful

@meencantanidiomas I don't know sure.
Maybe in south America, because of the influence of the USA english, they would undestand you.
But in Spain, nobody says "los tenis", sometimes young people maybe would undestand you. But is better if you don't say it.
Generally, people say "zapatillas de deporte" but, you can also say "zapatillas deportivas"; and, if you're looking for a short form you can say "zapatillas" or "deportivas" only.
