@desert_Rose_ in Turkey , if you are not friend with that person or not close to him/her that we use “siz”. Or the time that you wanna act more polite.

' siz 'so formal they are usually use 'sen'

It's about soical hierarchy. Teachers are higher situation so they don't use siz for students but students do use siz. Same for talking with elder people, they don't need to use siz for younger pedple. It's respectful speech rather then formal speech.
In formal situations, regardless of hierarchy people generally use siz.
