verheilen = The complete healing process of a healing thing.
heilen = to heal something, something healing
The dictionary says: "verheilen = völlig heilen"
Lass mich dich heilen. (Let me heal you.)
Die Wunde verheilt. (The wound heals. => The wound is in the process of healing, after which it will be healed.)
Note, that for something, that is healing, you can use both words.
Das Bein heilte. (Process may be incomplete.)
Das Bein verheilte. (Process was completed.)
Due to the nature of the "Perfekt" tense, with the participle, the process will be complete with both expressions.
Das Bein ist geheilt. = Das Bein ist verheilt.
You can play with the subtle difference.
Mein Arm heilte, doch dann brach ich ihn mir erneut. (My arm was healing, but the I broke it again.)
Mein Arm verheilte, doch dann brach ich ihn mir erneut. (My arm was healed, but the I broke it again.)

"verheilen": to heal completely (intransitive)
heilen: both transitive and intransitive, either "to heal" (for example in computer games), intransitive it's the process of "healing"
Die Wunde ist verheilt.
Die Wunde heilt.
Der Magier heilte die Wunden des verletzten.
When talking about actual medicine, you would mostly not use "heilen" as a transitive verb.
