They both mean the same thing! (but, however, yet)
But there is a little difference! Ma can only be used at the beginning of a sentence, però can be used at the end of the sentence too!
for example:
Mi piacciono le mele verdi, ma/però preferisco quelle gialle
=
I like green apples, but/however/yet I prefer yellow ones
if we use però, we can also say this phrase in a different way :)
Mi piacciono le mele verdi, preferisco quelle gialle, però
(literal translation: I like green apples, I prefer yellow ones, however)
ps: we usually use "ma" for interrogative sentences and only "ma" works for exclamation sentences
example: "Ma che bello!" (So beautiful!)
We can replace ma with però here, it would be grammatically wrong 😊
